Prisoner 24601's time is up (or it will be in a few months!). Tony nominee Ramin Karimloo will depart Broadway's Les Miserables on August 30. A production spokesperson said there was no word yet on his replacement as Jean Valjean. Directed by James Powell and Laurence Connor, the reimagined production is running at the Imperial Theatre, where it officially opened on March 23, 2014.
Karimloo received a Tony nod for his performance in the tuner. He originated the role of the Phantom in the West End run of Love Never Dies and starred in The Phantom of the Opera in the West End and in the 25th anniversary concert filmed at Royal Albert Hall. He played Jean Valjean in the West End production of Les Miserables and also in Toronto.
The revival's cast additionally currently includes Will Swenson as Javert, Samantha Hill as Cosette, Chris McCarrell as Marius, Wallace Smith as Enjolras, Erika Henningsen as Fantine, Brennyn Lark as Eponine, Gavin Lee as Thenardier and Rachel Izen as Madame Thenardier.
